Wave-generated Transport Induced by Ideal Waves
We consider boundary layer ows driven by either monochromatic progressive waves or standing waves. The forcing waves may be noisy from either phase or amplitude uctuations in these waves. The central issue addressed here is whether such ows are capable of developing spatial transport velocity patterns which persist over time. The existence of such patterns has two important consequences. First,...
متن کاملWater waves generated by a moving bottom
Tsunamis are often generated by a moving sea bottom. This paper deals with the case where the tsunami source is an earthquake. The linearized water-wave equations are solved analytically for various sea bottom motions. Numerical results based on the analytical solutions are shown for the free-surface profiles, the horizontal and vertical velocities as well as the bottom pressure.
متن کاملElastic characterization of porous bone by ultrasonic method through Lamb waves
The object of this research is to characterize the porous bones by an ultrasonic method using Lamb waves. In recent years, the characterization of such materials has attracted many authors and takes a perfect place in the field of medicine. It requires the development of more efficient technology for getting the necessary quality and security. This paper aims to exploits the dispersion curves o...
متن کاملDiffraction of Vector Elastic Waves by a Finite Crack.
Communicated June 30, 1964 The problem of the diffraction of obliquely incident scalar waves by finite slits and strips with various boundary conditions has been considered previously.' Reference may be made to the work of other authors on the diffraction of scalar waves by finite slits.2 The problem of the diffraction of obliquely incident vector elastic waves by a clamped finite strip has als...
